Jaipur: Hitting out at BJP, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said Modi in the last nine years served the rich while the Congress government worked for the poor. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he alleged that BJP’s campaign in the state was negative and disappointing, the Congress campaign was positive focused on public welfare.
Congress’ inflation relief camps, Surjewala said 1.8 crore families got benefits.Modi on the other hand gave Rs 1.82 lakh crore as corporate tax relief, wrote off Rs 15 lakh crore as NPAs and allowed the accused in bank frauds worth Rs 5.35 lakh crore to go abroad, he alleged.
He said so far over 1 crore registrations were made on the seven guarantees.
He said over 69 lakh Ujjwala families were given LPG cylinders at Rs 500 each at a cost of Rs 293.60 crore. “According to party manifesto, 1.06 LPG connections (Ujjwala and NFSA beneficiaries) would get cylinders at Rs 400 if the party was voted to power. Out of 1.19 crore domestic power consumers over one crore is getting zero power bills.”
The Congress leader claimed that 3.2 lakh people benefitted from the Chiranjeevi health care scheme costing about Rs 3,820 crore which included 846 government and 922 private hospitals. He said about 1.40 crore families are enrolled in the scheme. He said about 5.5 lakh government employees would benefit from the decision to introduce the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Surjewala said Rs 15,427 crore loan from the co-operative sector of 22.70 lakh farmers was waived off by the Congress government.

The state government sanctioned Rs 667 crore for disbursing social security pensions in five sectors for the beneficiaries, in an apparent move to pacify public criticism against extravagant spending in the 37-day long Nava Kerala Sadas. Finance Minister K N Balagopal explained that in two and a half years, Rs 23,350 crore has been disbursed as welfare pensions by the present government. The first LDF government disbursed Rs 35,154 crore in five years, while the UDF government disbursed Rs 9,011 crore. The expenditure on welfare pensions is projected to reach approximately Rs 50,000 crore by the end of the present government’s tenure.
