Over 15k In Raj Gain From Skilling Scheme | Jaipur News

Jaipur: As many as 15,191 people in Rajasthan have benefited from the Centre’s Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP) between2018-19 and 2022-23 (up to February 1, 2023). It is just 3.4% of the total ESDP beneficiaries in the whole country, which stands at 4.34 lakh, according to data from the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry.
Of the Rs 37.94 crore funds allocated for the whole country under ESDP during this period, Rs 2.25 crore was allocated for Rajasthan, informed the minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, in reply to an unstarred question in Lok Sabha on February 6.
“ESDP scheme runs with the objective of motivating young people representing different sections of the society, including SC/ST, women, physically challenged, ex-servicemen and BPL people, to consider self-employment or entrepreneurship as a career option,” the reply stated.
Only 98,640 jobs, which is 3% of the total 29.28 lakh in the country, were generated under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in Rajasthan in the last five years (from 2017-18 to 2021-22), data from the ministry has revealed.
Rs 423.51 crore was allocated under PMEGP in the last five years, and Rs 381.31 crore of it has been disbursed so far. In Rajasthan, 12,330 units have been assisted under the scheme, informed Chandrashekhar.
