Another Tigress To Be Relocated From R’bore To Ramgarh Reserve | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The forest department plans to relocate another tigress from the Ranthambore National Park (RNP) to the newly declared Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve (RVTR) in Bundi district.
The department had planned to relocate two tigresses for male tiger T-115 which made its territory in Ramgarh after moving out from Ranthambore. After tigress T-102 settled in its new adobe, the forest department is preparing paperwork to bring another big cat.
DFO Sanjeev Sharma said, “The permission from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) is awaited. Once the nod is received, another tigress will be relocated,” he said.
The (NTCA) had given in-principle approval to make Ramgarh Vishdhari Wildlife Sanctuary and adjoining areas as tiger reserves on July 5, 2021.
Experts said that the tigers were believed to have disappeared from the sanctuary in 1999. After chief minister Ashok Gehlot announced to upgrade the forest into a reserve, the process was expedited. “After Independence, these forests came under the control of Rajasthan government. In 1982, a part of the forest was declared as Ramgarh Vishdhari Wildlife Sanctuary under Section 5 of the Rajasthan Wild Animals and Birds Protection Act, 1951. The core area of the Ramgarh Vishdhari has eight villages. The sanctuary has leopards, sambhars, chitals, wild boars etc.”
The upgrade in the status is expected to strengthen the tiger conservation efforts in the state and the forest department is also prepared to start the tourism in the reserve for effective monitoring.
A senior official said, the chief wildlife warden has given permission to start tourism in buffer zone of the reserve. Similarly, a proposal has been forwarded to the NTCA to seek permission for starting tourism in core area.
“Three zone have been developed in buffer zones and four zones are proposed to be developed in core area for tourism. The department is working to start the safaris in park from March. For this, a committee has been constituted to evaluate the price and ascertain the safari charges,” said Sharma.
