Nakshatra: 3 Detained Over Death Of 2 Dalit Youths | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A day after two Dalit youths were killed and a third one injured after being hit by a four-wheeler near Deedwana, the district police on Wednesday detained three men on suspicion of deliberately causing the accident.
Investigations have indicated that a camper vehicle and a Scorpio car deliberately hit the bike that the three Dalit men were riding near Ranasar village in Deedwana district. Police had a look at a CCTV footage showing the two four-wheelers chasing the victims on the bike.
The three Dalit men were returning from a fair at Maulasar and had reportedly stopped at a dhaba, where they had had a confrontation with the men in the four-wheelers. CCTV footage shows the three Dalit men going on a bike towards the highway, and some miscreants present there chasing them in an SUV and a pickup truck.
“We have detained three suspects and seized a vehicle. Currently, 30 teams from Ajmer police range are conducting raids in many places, including Sikar, Nagaur, Jaipur and Churu. We hope to make arrests soon and proceed to file the chargesheet. The case will be transferred to the CID’s Heinous Crime Monitoring Unit. It will be expedited through the fast-track process to ensure early justice,” said ADG (crime) Dinesh MN.
In the initial questioning of the detained persons, it was revealed that the group responsible for the two Dalit men’s death had an ongoing feud with certain people and was anticipating their arrival. The assailants believed these Dalit men had come to do a recce, police were told.
“The post-mortem of the victims could not be done as the locals staged protests, demanding the immediate arrest of the killers,” said a police official. Many people from the Dalit community gathered outside the local police station to join the protests with the demand for a CBI probe, a government job for the victims’ families and a compensation of Rs 1 crore each.
Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore reached the crime spot to join the protests on Wednesday. He expressed anger over the lack of police action even 48 hours after the incident and demanded the arrest of the suspects.
DGP Umesh Mishra, ADG (crime) Dinesh MN and Ajmer Range IG Lata Manoj Kumar camped at Kuchaman along with the deputy commissioner and the district police chief. In a meeting with the protesters’ representatives, an assurance was given about the arrest of the accused. The protests continued as talks between the community’s members and police failed.
The three Dalit youths were run over after they allegedly had an altercation with some unidentified men at a highway dhaba in Deedwana-Kuchaman district late Monday night.
