Rajasthan Strike News: Talks between Rajasthan govt & doctors in vain, strike to continue | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The meeting of agitating doctors and state government over Right To Health (RTH) bill remained inconlusive on Sunday evening following which doctors decided to continue their agitation and threatened to intensify it in the coming days.
A delegation of doctors met chief secretary Usha Sharma, additional chief secretary (finance) Akhil Arora, principal secretary (health) T Ravikant, finance (expenditure) secretary Naresh Thakral and district collector (Jaipur) Prakash Rajpurohit to resolve the issues.
While doctors have only one agenda ‘roll back RTH bill’, the representatives of the government asked them to ‘discuss point by point’ provisions in the RTH bill which they feel are objectionable. “We asked them why they don’t want RTH. We were ready to discuss it point by point but they only wanted that it should be rolled back completely,” said a representative of the government in the meeting.
The doctors came to the secretariat where the meeting was held at 3pm. In the meeting, private hospitals and nursing homes society (PHNHS) secretary Dr Vijay Kapoor, representative of Indian Medical Association Dr Ashok Sharda, representatives from Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors Dr Neeraj Damor and Dr Chitresh Shekhawat and representatives of other doctors associations were present in the meeting.
“We have only one line agenda, which is roll back the RTH bill. We communicated it to the government representatives. In very strong terms, we do not want RTH bill and if it is not withdrawn the protest will be intensified in the state,” said Dr Kapoor.
“Since the entire bill has some issues, we have made it clear to the government representatives that the bill should be rolled back without any further discussion on it,” said Dr Chitresh Shekhawat, spokesperson, JARD.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has already appealed to the agitating doctors to call off the strike for the benefit of the patients. With the initiative of the chief minister, the government representatives and agitating doctors met for the first time since the strike started seven days ago.
Under the chairmanship of chief secretary Usha Sharma, talks were held. She said that doctora are like family of the government, so both are fully committed to serve the people.
While listening to the doubts and suggestions of the delegation of doctors, Sharma said that they work together with the spirit of a team to serve the people of the state, therefore, with the aim of further strengthening the rights of the people of the state towards their health, this Bill has been introduced.
She also assured the delegation of holding a detailed discussion on their suggestions.
She said that according to the chief minister’s intention to take all sections of the state along, this bill has been brought after listening to everyone and with deep discussion, therefore, the chief minister appeals to all doctors to end the strike.
