Retired Army Man Run Over By Bus, People Vandalise Vehicle | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A 58-year-old man was killed after a speeding Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) bust ran over him on Sikar Road.
According to SHO (Accident West) Naryan Singh, the incident occurred around 7pm when Narendra Kumar Gautam, a resident of Murlipura, was riding his scooter. The bus hit him and then run over Gautam near Vishwakarma Industrial Area (VKI) Road number 2, resulting in his death on the spot.
“Gautam was a retired defence personnel. He used to attend yoga classes every morning,” Singh said.
Meanwhile, ASI Durga Prasad said that the victim retired from Army and his body was handed over to the family.
The locals passing from the area helped to rush him to the hospital but he was pronunced dead by the docotors. Meanwhile, a large number of local residents and a group of passerby tried to stop the bus driver but he managed to flee.
The enraged mob proceeded to vandalise the bus and demanded for the immediate arrest of the accused responsible for the incident. The residents said that JCTSL buses have been wrecking havoc on the Sikar Road, leading to one accident after the another.
When questioned about the reason behind the bus vandalism, a local resident who also runs a small shop in the area explained that buses have turned the roads into a racing track, which has been a cause of concern for locals.
“The buses are locked in a reckless competition with one another, trying to get the maximum number of passengers from each stop. This aggressive behavior has led to many mishaps,” the resident said.
Singh and his team, who reached the spot, pacified the angry protestors. He said, “It is an unfortunate incident, but vandalizing public property will not help anyone. We are investigating the case to ensure justice for the victim.”
The locals alleged that the bus driver was wearing earphones at the time of the accident, but the police responded by stating that they have not found any evidence to support this claim.
Meanwhile, a senior traffic official informed JCTSL about the reckless driving of their drivers, but their efforts were in vain.
