Workers Overcame Leaked Water, Snake To Restore Services | Jaipur News
Jaipur: No provisions to de-water the pipeline, rocks on the bed and a narrow space for water between the wall and the pipeline had made workers of the public health and engineering department to repair the leak in the Bisalpur pipeline that was spotted on June 5.
Despite the tough situation, workers worked throughout the night to fix the leakage within 12-13 hours after it was spotted.
“The land where leakage was spotted is a low land and is in the shape of a sausage. It became very difficult for us to pump out the water as water was flowing back to the pipeline. Second, we had to be very careful that the drained-out water does not flood the farmers’ field adjacent to the pipeline. Once the water was drained out, we could start the restoration work,” said a worker on duty.
The leakage had taken place around 26km from Renwal in a village named Tordy in the Tonk district.
Another worker claimed that there was a huge concentration of rocks in the water pipe, and they had to deploy pro-cranes to remove the rocks. “Now, these cranes are huge. You need to carry them on trailers. It was a challenge for us to bring the trailer to the spot through the village road,” an official added.
To add on the concern, workers at the site found a snake on the wee hours of the day. Apparently, the snake seemed to be poisonous, and workers had to carefully drive away the snake from the site.
“In all it was a tough and challenging job. Thank god that we managed to restore the problem within 13 hours and supply could be restored soon after,” another worker signed off.
