Woman Alleges Cops Forced Her To Settle Rape Case, Probe On | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The functioning of the city police has come under scrutiny after an allegation surfaced that a police staffer pressured a woman into agreeing to a settlement with a man who raped her.

The woman in her FIR to the Airport police station alleged that the accused first raped her in 2011 and also took photos and videos of the act. She alleged that the accused continued to rape her by threatening to release her photos and videos. She further alleged that as she got scared, she left her house, but the accused continued to chase and harass her.
According to her, on July 17, she went to the Airport police station to finally file a case against the accused. However, the police station staffer after filing her complaint called the accused to the police station. She alleged that police forced her to agree for a settlement and also took her signatures on a blank page before letting her go at 10.30 pm.

The woman claimed that she is now convinced that the accused had good connections with the police station staff. Meanwhile, police said that they have filed a case under IPC Section 376 (Rape), and relevant provisions under the SC/ST act.
“The investigation into the case is currently underway, and an FIR has been filed. The veracity of the charges will be determined through the investigation, and all facts are being closely examined,” said an official.
