Rs 175cr transferred to 41k farmers who lost livestock to lumpy disease | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The state government has transferred Rs 175 crore to 41,900 farmers as compensation for the loss of livestock due to lumpy disease outbreak in the state last year. The government had announced Rs 40,000 each for a cow/buffalo which died during treatment.
This was announced by CM Ashok Gehlot on Friday while inaugurating the three-day Rajasthan Kisan Mahotsav in the city’s Sitapura area. Gehlot claimed that the state was the first in the country to compensate farmers for cow deaths.
A farmer could claim compensation for up to two milching animals. Gehlot said the state government’s policies and programmes were providing maximum relief to animal herders and farmers. This year, over 68 lakh cattle have been vaccinated for the lumpy epidemic. The government is providing a subsidy of Rs 5 per litre of milk and insurance cover of Rs 40,000 to two milching animals each for each family free of cost.

Financial assistance of Rs 1.56 crore is being given to each gram panchayat to open a ‘Nandishala’ and a grant of about Rs 2,500 crore has been given to gaushalas. These have enabled the state to become the first in the country in the field of milk production, he claimed.
Rajasthan is also the first in the country to announce a separate agriculture budget. For the effective implementation of the schemes for farmers, 12 agriculture missions have been launched. The corpus of the Farmers’ Welfare Fund has been increased to Rs 7,500 crore. The government has disbursed crop insurance claims worth Rs 18,000 crore, provided four lakh agricultural power connections, wire fenced 26.50 lakh metres of farms and given up to 2,000 units of free electricity for the welfare of farmers. Repair work has also been carried out in 108km area of the Indira Gandhi feeder canal.
The government will provide over 3.50 lakh government jobs and 100 mega job fairs are being organized to provide employment in the private sector. The Gig Workers Welfare Board has been set up with a budget of Rs 200 crore to provide social secuirty. “Rajasthan has reached second place in the country in terms of economic growth due to its excellent financial management. The schemes run by the government are being discussed across the country. It is working with the aim of making Rajasthan the leading state in every field of development by the year 2030,” he claimed.
Some 50,000 farmers are participating in the Rajasthan Kisan Mahotsav being held till June 18. World class techniques in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries and agricultural marketing are on display the venue. Apart from this, session are being held for farmers to interact with experts. More than 200 stalls have been set up to provide information to farmers on various aspects of the sector.
