Rajasthan: ‘Private school body against bill regulating schools’ | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The private educational institutes have opposed the bill Rajasthan Private Education Regulatory Bill 2023 by terming it as a tool to strip their rights.
In a presser on Sunday, a group of schools called the provision of charging 1% fees to run the regulatory authority is unlawful and will add a burden on parents. “Schools are already governed under the rules and regulations. The bill’s provision of charging 1% of their total fees will be compensated or adjusted from the fees. The government must understand that the only source of income for schools or any educational institutes is fees. Secondly, if the regulatory committee imposed any penalty or penalizes any school doesn’t have any provision to challenge it in any court of law. The extraordinary powers to the committee will reduce the autonomy of schools to zero,” said Sandeep Bakshi of Progressive Schools Association in a presser.
The government has cleared its intention of bringing a regulatory body to improve the quality of education and to regulate fees.
Father Thomas of PSA said the draft bill was prepared without taking schools, the main stakeholder’s views into consideration are unjust approaches by the government.
“Of 1.91 crore enrollment registered in schools in 2021-22, almost half of them were in private schools. It proves the contribution of private schools is almost equivalent to fully funded and resourceful private institutions. We expect constructive support from the government as 2/3 of the private schools are yet to emerge from the two years of financial loss incurred during Covid times,” said Thomas.
