Bisalpur-II: Deadlock between PHED, traffic police over laying of pipeline | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Officials of the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) are having a tough time “convincing” the traffic police for laying a Bisalpur-II project water pipeline at a stretch of barely 900 metres on National Highway 48, between Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir and the PHED pump house near Ban ki Ghat.
Traffic officials had rejected the idea of diverting traffic on this stretch-considered to be one of the busiest in the city’s outskirts. Instead, the police had asked PHED to carry out work late at night.
“The problem in laying pipelines on this stretch is that the alignment is in the middle of the road. It would be difficult for us to do it until and unless traffic on this stretch is diverted. The idea of working at night is not feasible. It would take a lot of time to finish the job and it may create safety issues for the workers,” said a PHED official.
On the other hand, a senior traffic official said, “All Alwar and Delhi-bound vehicles, including long-distance buses, ply on this stretch and the best possible diversion would increase their journey at least by 10 to 12 km.”
“We are going to take up this issue sometime in the next week. Let’s see how we can negotiate with JDA and police,” said a PHED official.
